OPEN SOURCE LIGHTING From Cyborg Automation AU · Free and open source

Philips Hue lighting for your music, films and games.

Three free, open source projects that work with your own servers and streaming services. Use one, or all three: they share the entertainment area.

CAMusic

Android app

Hue light shows for the music you host yourself, streamed straight to your bridge at 60 frames a second.

  • Navidrome, Jellyfin, Plex, Emby, MPD, Music Assistant and files on your phone
  • Spotify, Qobuz and Tidal accounts (experimental)
  • Phone, tablet, Android TV and Android Auto, plus an LG webOS preview

Hue Synco

Home Assistant integration

Beat-mapped light shows for every speaker in Home Assistant. Each track is analysed first, so the lights land on the beat.

  • Music Assistant players first, including Sonos, AirPlay and Chromecast
  • A dashboard card for phones and wall tablets that mirrors the room live
  • Controls Hue Ghost movie mode from Home Assistant

Hue Ghost

Windows program

Hue light sync for Jellyfin, games and apps. Your PC and the official Hue Sync app do the work, and the TV keeps its own picture.

  • Any Jellyfin client: Apple TV, Android TV, phones
  • Browsers (YouTube, Netflix, Disney+), Kodi, Plex, Spotify and any PC game
  • HDR, 4K and Dolby Vision play as usual

Which one suits you? Side by side.

Start with the one that matches how you listen or watch.

All three need a Hue Bridge v2 (the square one) with an entertainment area set up in the Hue app.

Free, open and local.

What every project brings.

Free and open sourceApache 2.0 for CAMusic, MIT for Hue Synco and Hue Ghost. Read the code, change it, build on it.
Your servers and servicesEach project works with the servers and streaming services you already use.
On your networkYour own server, bridge and lamps do the work.
One shared areaA bridge streams to one entertainment area at a time, so the projects take turns.

Things people ask first.

Do I need all three?+

Each one works on its own. Pick CAMusic for music on your phone or your own server, Hue Synco for every speaker in Home Assistant, and Hue Ghost for films and games.

Can they run together?+

Yes. A bridge streams to an entertainment area from one place at a time, so the projects take turns. With Hue Ghost linked in Hue Synco, movie mode stops music sync first, and starting music sync turns movie mode off. CAMusic hands its stream over when something else takes the area.

What Hue gear do I need?+

A Hue Bridge v2 (the square one), an entertainment area arranged in the Hue app, and Hue colour lights such as Play bars, lightstrips, gradient strips, floor lamps and globes.

Why are they free?+

Installing and looking after smart homes is our business. The software is our contribution back to the open source community our work is built on, and it improves with every person who uses it.

Can you set it up for me?+

Yes. We install and look after Home Assistant around Melbourne, and we are happy to add any of these to a new or existing setup. Get in touch.
