The default dashboard is built for the software, not for your family
Out of the box, Home Assistant shows you everything it can find. Every sensor, every switch, every diagnostic value, in one long list. That view is genuinely useful if you are the person who set the system up, and close to useless for everybody else in the house.
A dashboard is the screen your household actually touches. If someone has to think about where a control is, or scroll past forty things they do not care about to reach the one they do, the system has failed no matter how good the automations behind it are.
